By now I usually have the front porch all decked out like this:

Lights, hay bales, scarecrows and pumpkins:

Mother Nature thwarted our usual tradition of Princess Nagger and I going to pick up the hay bales and pumpkins the first weekend in October, then Princess Nagger and I being sick this past weekend negated our postponed trip.  Hopefully this weekend we’ll be successful, though I’ve had to resort to prowling on Craigslist to see where I can get the corn stalks since the farm we usually get them from don’t seem to have any this year.

We did, however, venture out to check out the grand opening of the new Hobby Lobby they finally opened in our area, and Princess Nagger thought we needed to get an additional scarecrow to add to our decor.  Meet the Ironic Scarecrow:

What does one do while being goofy posing for the camera with their new ‘friend’?  Why, Tango, of course!

Do you decorate for fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving/at all?

  1. Sorry you couldn’t make it last week, but this week will be for sure. How’s lil’ Dude likin’ Halloween? I decorate so when the kids come over they see it then & sometimes they help. I decorate a lot if we’re going to have a party, but no party this year so just a few things here and there. Have a great day & hope you’re better!

  2. Princess Nagger has such a great personality! I love your decorations, too! I like the natural materials. So many people on my street have plastic everything in their front yards. I never decorated for Halloween before, but Baby T and I made a wreath and he helped me paint some tables to put pumpkins on. He says, “Mom, I really love these pumpkins.”

  3. I hope you are all feeling better. Your decorations look so nice. I finally got my things out too. I have a lot of fall decorations!

  4. I love your decorations! The scarecrow crow looks like the crows from Dumbo or maybe even the crows from Heckell and Jeckyll. lol

We went with simple decorations this year. There’s a couple of tombstones, a skeleton and some lit pumpkins. The sun really does a number on our decorations. They don’t last long so we make do with what we have until after the season and every goes on clearance. Then I’ll save them for next year.

I love decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving, but we usually put our tree up before Christmas. I’m crazy like that. lol

  5. I decorated for Thanksgiving one year. Our daughter was a freshman in college and she was bringing friends home for the holiday because they didn’t have enough time to travel to their own homes. I had pumpkins and pretty autumn leaf decorations on the front porch. Then the day before Thanksgiving it snowed so hard that all my beautiful decorations were completely covered. Didn’t bother again. I’m able to get to the right side of your blog today and tried to follow but don’t know if it worked. My little Lola (Johnny Depp) photo hasn’t shown up yet.

  6. Some Halloween decorating. Last year I wired up a skull with red LEDs and hooked up a motion detector. I’ve improved the design this year.

  8. Hi!
I love decorating for Halloween but I let the kids “help” me get the stuff out and they took over. So now I have clumps of stuff on the entertainment center and on the front walkway and because they specifically put it there, I can’t move it or they get hurt feelings.

How are things going your way? Haven’t heard an update in awhile!
