Is it just me or are Monday’s rolling around faster than ever before?  Better not blink, a whole week will be gone before you know it!  And where’s the summer going so fast?  Today’s the first day of August, which generally signals the downhill slide of summertime.  Sorry, didn’t mean to bring you down.

At least we have some cool music to enjoy and make our Monday’s something to actually look forward to, right?  No theme this week, so I get to share some songs that I’ve been wanting to share since I heard them on the radio while we were traveling on vacation – plus one I just heard on Friday that I know you’ll enjoy, too!

First up is my boy Luke Bryan (no, I haven’t replaced my all-time favorite Brad Paisley, but Luke is sure giving him a run for his money.  Sorry, Brad.)  This song Princess Nagger loves singing to, too – though maybe I should be a little worried what with the words and all.  You tell me:

Country Girl (Shake it For Me) Lyrics
Luke Bryan

*Intro*
Hey girl, go on now!
You know you’ve got everybody lookin’

Got a little boom in my big truck
Gonna open up the doors and turn it up
Gonna stomp my boots in the Georgia mud
Gonna watch you make me fall in love
Get up on the hood of my daddy’s tractor
Up on the tool box, it don’t matter
Down on the tailgate
Girl I can’t wait
To watch you do your thing

Shake it for the young bucks sittin’ in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin’ ’til the break of dawn
The DJ spinnin’ that country song
C’mon, c’mon, c’mon
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimmin’ down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl

Aw, country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me

Somebody’s sweet little farmer’s child
With a gattle in her Bud to get a little wild
Pony-tail and a pretty smile
Rope me in from a country mile
So come on over here and get in my arms
Spin me around this big ole barn
Tangle me up like grandma’s yarn
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Shake it for the young bucks sittin’ in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin’ ’til the break of dawn
For the DJ spinnin’ that country song
C’mon, c’mon, c’mon
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimmin’ down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl

Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me

Now dance, like a dandelion
In the wind on the hill underneath the pines
Yeah, move like the river flows
Feel the kick drum down deep in your toes
All I wanna do is get to holdin’ you
And get to knowin’ you
And get to showin’ you
And get to lovin’ you
‘Fore the night is through
Baby, you know what to do

Shake it for the young bucks sittin’ in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin’ ’til the break of dawn
For the DJ spinnin’ that country song
C’mon, c’mon, c’mon
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimmin’ down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl

Aw, country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me

Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me

Next up is Jerrod Niemann with his newest song, “One More Drinkin’ Song” that’s quite the fun little ditty:

One More Drinkin’ Song Lyrics
Jerrod Niemann

yea
today I wanted to write a tune
started strummin’ this little groove,
I coulda wrote about love or money
something sad or something funny,

but hey, hey, hey what’s so wrong
with one more drinkin’ song,
hold up your cups and sing along
to one more drinkin’ song

and if by chance this brings you cheer
maybe someday you’ll bring me a beer
or not to mention my favorite drink
a marga-daiquiri-screw-aloda-on the beach

hey, hey, hey what’s so wrong
with one more drinkin’ song
hold up your cups and sing along
to one more drinkin’ song

so here’s to cheap whiskey and fine wine
buyin’ shots and pick up lines
and here’s to bartenders tryin’ to get paid
when all of us are tryin’ to get………

hey, hey, hey what’s so wrong
with one more drinkin’ song
hold up your cups and sing along
to one more drinkin’ song
hey, hey, hey what’s so wrong
one more drinkin’ song
hold up your cups and sing along
one more drinkin’ song

Next up is a fun song by one of my newer favorite groups, The JaneDear Girls, “Shotgun Girl”:

Shotgun Girl Lyrics
The JaneDear Girls

Yeah, yeah

I like to hold your hand up high on the Ferris wheel
And how front porch swingin’ with you makes me feel
Yeah, but when you pull up in your big ol’ truck
I can’t climb up in it fast enough

Cuz I’m a shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylan, Willie and Merle

So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
Cuz boy I’m your shotgun girl

Yeah, I’m a shotgun girl

There’s not a piece of road ’round here we ain’t burned down
Except that stretch that heads on outta town
Yeah, whenever you need to feel that freedom
Leave a little room for me

Cuz I’m a shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylan, Willie and Merle

So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
Cuz, boy, I’m your shotgun girl

Yeah, I’m a shotgun girl

Yeah I’m a shotgun girl along for the ride
Your dashboard drummer on a Saturday night
Crankin’ up Waylan, Willie and Merle

So throw one arm around me now, honey
We’ll sling that gravel just like Bonnie and Clyde
I’d ride with you all around the world
Cuz boy I’m your shotgun girl

I’m your shotgun girl, yeah, yeah
I’m calling shotgun baby, yeah, yeah

Last, but certainly not least, is an up-and-coming artist, Olivia Blue, who introduced me to her music on Friday when she graced my blog with her presence.  I’m so honored!  Here she is with her ultra fun song (that she wrote and produced on her iPad – making Princess Nagger even more adamant that she needs one), “Blue Skies”:

Blue Skies Lyrics
Olivia Blue

Woke up this mornin’ and I rolled out of bed
I got so much to do rollin’ right out my head
I got sunshine and I got babies cryin’
So I pull back the covers and I go back to bed

aye aye, aye aye, aye aye, aye aye aye

I got blue skies, blue butterflies
Blue as the sea blue as me-ee oh oh!
Oh oh, oh oh, yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Woke up this mornin’ and I wrote me a song
I got blue jeans and a singin’ along
So i put up the dishes and I folded some clothes
Now I’m not dressed up but I got no place to go

aye aye, aye aye, aye aye, aye aye aye

I got blue skies, blue butterflies
Blue as the sea blue as me-ee oh oh!
Oh oh, oh oh, yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Blue skies, blue butterflies
Blue as the sea blue as me-ee oh oh!
Oh oh, oh oh, yeah yeah yeah yeah!

I’m now off to look for blue butterflies… enjoy your Monday!
