I love this time of year – sights, sounds, music – it’s all so festive!  Here we are, another Monday – which means another special edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me.  This month, for obvious reasons, we’re doing Christmas music.  Since I like to be unique and different, I’ve chosen one of my favorite fun Christmas songs by Reba, “Up on the Housetop”:

Up on the Housetop lyrics:

(Traditional – Arranged by Reba McEntire)

Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones, Christmas joys
Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn’t go? Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn’t go?

Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick

First comes the stocking of little Nell
Oh, dear Santa fill it well
Give her a dolly that laughs and cries
One that will open and shut her eyes
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?

Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick

Next comes the stocking of little Will
Oh, just see what a glorious fill
Here is a hammer and lots of tacks
Also a ball and a whip that cracks
Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn’t go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?

Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick

Princess Nagger is excited to possibly catch the sound of click, click, click in just 18 days!  Enjoy your Monday!

  1. I’m glad you like to be unique and different. This is new to me and I like hearing new Christmas tunes (to me). Nice pick!

  2. Stacy;

I know this song but never heard Reba singing it.
    Sure like the country spin!
Have a wonderful week, say hi to the Princess.

  3. Fun! I hadn’t heard Reba’s version before. I love all the different version of these Christmas classics. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  4. Thanks for stopping by, and playing along once again. Sure hope you’ll be here all month long you really got a good pick here. I think I’ll play it while I’m putting my granddaughter’s table and chairs together & putting it under the tree. They’re Dora’s table & chairs. That’s what I chose with my CSN GC. Great place to shop. They got everything. I’m halfway done with my Christmas cards… Did you e-mail me your address so I can send you a card??? I love sending them & I love getting them even more. ~hehe~ HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  5. By the way those songs on my blog… do you remember Garfield Goose? They use to play those songs on their show all the time plus do you remember (or reruns for both) The Ray Rayner Show? He use to play them too. I grew up with these songs, so it may be before your time, but my kids loved them and now my grandchildren love them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  6. The minute I saw the title to your blog, I started to hum the song.

And talk about festive – it’s snowing here!

  7. Reba is great and this was the best version Ive ever heard…Loved it and the video that went with it was perfect…those images were really sentimental and beautiful..! Great choice..!

  8. I’m more of a “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer” or “Walkin’ in my winter underwear” kind of gal but your song is real nice. 🙂

  9. Love me some Reba!!! And a fun, fun song that I remember singing millions of times as a kid! Enjoyed it!

Also Stacy if you might have some time in the next week HA! LOL Yeah, right, huh? But I tried pasting that HTML code to the notepad and then copying to blog from there, nothing happened! LOL I don’t know what I’m doing wrong??? Once I get it on there then I will try to add the instructions too which I know I then got to get all those links on there too!
    HoHoHo…I don’t know! I feel like a dummy! LOL
    Thanks!
