I’m a sucker for cinnamon rolls.  If I had a choice between anything else and cinnamon rolls, I’d choose cinnamon rolls every time.  Of course my absolute favorite part is the center – so I’ll actually eat around the entire outside and save the middle for last.

When I was asked if I’d like to try Pillsbury’s new Orange Sweet Rolls, I was definitely intrigued.  Orange?  Cinnamon?  Together?   Princess Nagger encouraged me to say yes, she was all about the cinnamon rolls and particularly the ‘orange’ part.

I received a coupon in the mail, and the next time I went grocery shopping I picked up some of the new Orange Sweet Rolls.  Princess Nagger was all excited to get started making them (more so she could hurry up and get started eating them):

Bonus – I was glad to see they participate in Box Tops for Education – now that I have a kid in elementary school, I’m always on the lookout to clip these (and Princess Nagger made sure to remind me not to miss this one):

As I separated the doughy sections, the aroma of orange was heavenly.  Only minutes later the pan was ready to put in the oven:

Princess Nagger pointed out that the picture showed they used a round pan, but since I already had them in a square one, I figured she could see either would work just fine.  She distracted me a little bit over the next 12-19 minutes, so they got a little extra brown, but hey, nobody’s perfect:

Besides, it was now time to slather them with the included orange glaze/frosting:

Princess Nagger had the first pick:

She took the first bite and exclaimed:  “These are really good!  You can write that in your post, Mama, tell everyone they are delicious!”

I selected one and took a bite…heavenly!  I ate it so fast I didn’t even need a plate or fork.  They aren’t all that big, so they’re not too much of a cheat on a diet.  At least that’s what I told myself as I gobbled down three in a row, as did Princess Nagger.  Then we decided we better save the last two for Dada so he wouldn’t feel left out.   I wrapped the last two in foil to keep them fresh, then Princess Nagger and I polished them off the next morning for breakfast.  Ahem.

From Pillsbury:

“Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls are warm, fresh, and ready to serve in just minutes. With an ooey-gooey texture and a delicious orange icing, Orange Sweet Rolls have a mouth watering aroma that is sure to bring your family together like no other breakfast! Packed with the love and flavor of a treat made from scratch, but without the time and cleanup, Orange Sweet Rolls are the perfect addition to your family’s Sunday morning traditions.”

I, for one, agree wholeheartedly with their description.  They were fast and easy to make – and fast and easy to eat.  And delicious!  Princess Nagger has instructed me to make sure they’re on my list for my next grocery run, so maybe this time we’ll share with Dada.  Maybe. Now if only Pillsbury made dinosaur-shaped sweet rolls.
