My dad sent this to me in an email, so I’m not sure if it’s actually a true account or not, but it is entertaining…
During a private “fly-in” fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness, the chartered pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane. And a bear smelled it. This is what he did to the plane:
The pilot used his radio and had another pilot bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape, and a supply of sheet plastic. He patched the plane together, and FLEW IT HOME !

OMG! Seriously? I think I’d be afraid to fly in a teeny little plane like that anyway – but one that’s duct-taped together? I’d be tempted to stay in Alaska. (Far away from that bear!)

Love the creative use for duct tape! This just goes to show how rugged Alaskans really are, this guy was confident enough in his duct tape plane to fly home. WOW!

Reminds me of the film Sister Act 2 when the noun pulls out the roll of duct tape to repair a tear in the gown…she said the same…never leave home without a roll of duct tape! lol

Being from Alaska, born and raised, I can tell you this story might not be real, but it’s TOTALLY possible and TOTALLY something an Alaskan would do. Sweet. Love it. Makes me miss home, and copious needs for duct tape…

Duct tape is marvelous stuff. You should have some in your emergency kit. You can use it to waterproof shoes!
