Looky here! I get to participate in Quotable Sunday! Of course this week I chose quotes on Perseverance, because apparently my multiple phone calls to technical support and working my way up the chain of command gave me some positive results. Our internet and phone are back, and I didn’t have to wait a whole week! I’m writing all about it and will post all the dirt tomorrow….but for today, I’m doing a happy dance because I don’t have to be transported back to the dark ages of pre-internet! 😉
“Nothing is easy to the unwilling. Nothing is EASY to the unwilling.”
Thomas Fuller

“We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated.”
Maya Angelou

“It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated… it is finished when it surrenders.”
Ben Stein

“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.”
Thomas Paine

“How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more patience would have achieved success?”
Elbert Hubbard

“The miracle, or the power, that elevates the few is to be found in their industry, application, and perseverance under the prompting of a brave, determined spirit.”
Mark Twain

“The most essential factor is persistence – the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.”
James Whitcomb Riley

“Your biggest break can come from never quitting. Being at the right place at the right time can only happen when you keep moving toward the next opportunity.”
Arthur Pine

“Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before.”
Herodotus

This next one is my favorite:

“If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

  2. It is interesting that most people don't know that Ben Stein was a presidential speech writer, as was Jerry Springer! Nice Quotes!

  12. "How many a man has thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more patience would have achieved success?"

I really do try to remember this when I'm not seeing an end in site or when I'm feeling I'll never accomplish something. I do try to push just a bit harder.
