Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for sassy updates.
The wonderful people over at Country Bob’s asked if I would like to try Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce and do a review, and in return they would be willing to send 2 bottles of FREE sauce to 2 of my wonderful readers! I’m always interested in trying new things, so of course I said ‘sure!’ ;)

A little history from their website:

In 1968 Country Bob perfected the sauce of his dreams. After years of giving the sauce to friends and family he began to sell it in 1977. The reaction was overwhelming just as it is today. Almost everyone who tries Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce becomes a lifelong user. And why not, it is the perfect complement to practically any meal set on your table.

I decided to go against the meat-and-potatoes ‘norm’ and try something different – after perusing on their website making myself really hungry with all their recipes, I decided to modify their recipe for ‘Crockpot Orange Honey Chicken‘. I had a couple of Rock Cornish Game Hens that were begging to be cooked, so instead of using my usual boneless chicken breasts, I decided to use the game hens with this recipe. I always love cooking with my crock pot, because the whole house smells heavenly throughout the day. That and it’s also guaranteed that I’ll have a nutritious dinner for my family at dinner time in spite of getting wrapped up in the blogging world… ;)

Normally I’ll modify recipes to taste and add extra spices or replace an ingredient to make the recipe my own, but this time I decided to follow the recipe to the letter (well, except for replacing chicken breasts with game hen…) It felt weird to me not to add any herbs and spices, but I wanted to allow a true test to the sauce to commence. I was not disappointed. Not even close! The game hen turned out incredibly moist and flavorful, I had added broccoli, cauliflower, baby carrots and water chestnuts for the last hour of cooking, and they turned out excellent as well. Served with jasmine rice, this turned plain old boring game hen and veggies into a meal with almost an ‘exotic’ flair. Even the Princess Nagger finished the food on her plate – that right there says a lot about the flavor.

There are many wonderful recipes on Country Bob’s website, I think my next adventure will be the stew – I’ll be curious to see if it enhances the flavor like it did with the game hen. I noticed that they also have expanded their sauce line to include a spicy all-purpose sauce – my hubby would be all over that in a heartbeat, since he loves all things spicy! ;) I’m also intrigued by their barbecue sauce and seasoning salt. I’m looking forward to trying them all out, since I really enjoyed the All Purpose Sauce!
How would you like to try this sauce? Country Bob would love to give two of my readers the chance to win two bottles of their very own!

I think I’d like to try the Cashew Chicken Stir-fry that uses the All-Purpose sauce.s We love Chinese food, but since I have a high sensitivity to MSG (it causes me to get migraines), I am always worried that a Chinese restaurant or take-out uses MSG. So I’d rather make my own.
