Quotable Sunday

My cool bloggy friend, Toni, from A Daily Dose of Toni has this great weekly ritual of posting Favorite Quotes – the quotes that people come up with are very inspiring, so if you haven’t had a chance to check out Quotable Sunday, now’s your chance! πŸ˜‰ This week I have chosen quotes about ‘Character’:

“You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself one.”
Henry David Thoreau

“Reputation is what men and women think of us; character is what God and angels know of us.” Thomas Paine

“The essential thing is not knowledge, but character.”
Joseph Le Conte

“It requires less character to discover the faults of others, than to tolerate them.” J. Petit Senn

“Sow an act, and you reap a habit; sow a habit, and you reap a character; sow a character, and you reap a destiny.” George Dana Boardman

“Talents are best nurtured in solitude. Character is best formed in the stormy billows of the world.” Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

“Reputation is for time; character is for eternity.” J. B. Gough

“Character is a diamond that scratches every other stone.” Cyrus A. Bartol

“Nature magically suits a man to his fortunes, by making them the fruit of his character.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Let us not say, Every man is the architect of his own fortune; but let us say, Every man is the architect of his own character.” George Dana Boardman

“Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live, as well as strong to think.

About Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance and I chose to become a SAHM and WAHM - I love every minute of it. We added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension to our family. We have an eclectic mix of pets: dogs, cats, birds and fish. I love to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, I take on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. My favorite, of course, is making my own wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway. I blog about the joys of parenting, family, friends, life, love and anything else that strikes my fancy. I do enjoy doing reviews and giveaways for products I use, believe in and can stand behind.

We’re known by character. It surfaces in all that we say and do.

  8. @Lori: Morning, Lori! πŸ™‚ Thanks very much! I enjoyed your TV ones! πŸ˜‰

@my2boyz: Thank you very much! I enjoyed yours, too! πŸ™‚

  10. Great quotes today, but hey they are great every Sunday! Happy Sunday hope your weekend is going well πŸ™‚

  11. I’m a sucker for good quotes. People who can come up with a sentence or two that make us stop in our tracks and think–really think–get all my respect.

  12. Great quotes! I really needed them today. I’m faltering in a decision I need to make, the quote about tolerating someone’s faults is what has the most character really said a lot to me.. I needed a nice slap in the brain..

    Thanks!!

  13. This quote is my favorite:
“Reputation is what men and women think of us; character is what God and angels know of us.” Thomas Paine

I’ll hold a little tighter to this one until I’m through the “storm” with someone going on a smear campaign in my name. Some crazy things have gotten back to me but I know the truth and who I am in Christ. No person can take that away from me. In the meantime, I’m enjoying life and the individual God made me. πŸ™‚

  14. -It requires less character to discover the faults of others, than to tolerate them.
Love that one. Great quotes today!!

  15. Great character quotes. I love quotes, in general. I just read through your quotes listed three times in a row!

  16. @Nicole: LOL! You’re funny, Nicole, that’s what you are! πŸ˜‰ Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

@Firefly: Thanks so much, Firefly! πŸ™‚ My Sunday is going well – hope yours is too! πŸ™‚

@Frogs in my formula: I couldn’t agree with you more! πŸ™‚

@Lilith Silvermane: LOL Lilith! Glad the quotes were able to give you the nice slap in the brain you needed…(grin!!)

@Amy A.K.A. “The Mrs.”: Awww, Amy – I sure hope the ‘storm’ passes quickly…it sucks when people are morons and do a smear campaign – or even participate in one. You’re right – you know the truth, and who you are in Christ. Absolutely no one can take that from you. ((HUGZ!!))

@Valerie(momof3crazykids): That is a great one! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

@Yaya: LOL Yaya! I love quotes in general, too – and I’m sure I’ve read some three times in a row, too! πŸ˜‰
