I was very grateful for the outpouring of hugs and well-wishes after posting about my daughter’s unfortunate face-planting incident yesterday…I appreciate you all! πŸ™‚ I figured I would post a follow-up so all my faithful readers (and new readers who will henceforth become faithful (grin!)) can see how she’s doing…she isn’t phased one little bit by her debacle, so I’m glad I didn’t freak out. Too much.

See, from straight-on it doesn’t look so bad…you know, if you ignore that purplish color at the outside corner of her eye…
A slight tilt-of-the-head shows a bit more…
This angle really captures the whole thing – she hasn’t let me touch the dried blood on her eyebrow, I’m hoping it’ll wash mostly away when she takes her bath later…(which she definitely needs by the obviously dirty face!)
And if you look at her from this angle, you can’t tell there’s anything wrong at all…

I thought it was ‘funny’ how the blood ‘moving around’ as it settles from the face-plant makes it look like she’s wearing eyeshadow on that eye. If you look at it from a distance. Or squint your eyes. If I were one of those mothers that thought it was OK for a 6-year old to wear makeup, I’d put some on her other eye to ‘balance’ things out. But I’m not. Maybe I should. No, not a good idea. Don’t want her to go down that road yet! πŸ˜‰ Though she did put makeup on herself once. From a ‘child makeup kit’ she got from a friend as a gift. That was fun. See? Look:

Doesn’t she look beautiful? (cough…cough…) And with another dirty face…

And how about when she thought it would be funny to plaster stickers all over her face:

When I took the pictures of her today, she offered up the following dialogue:

Savannah: “Are you taking those pictures to put on your blog?”

Me: “Yes I am…I thought it might be nice to give everyone a follow-up to your accident.”

Savannah: “Good idea! Don’t forget to tell them that I am funny, and that I’m singing ‘Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ in a goofy way. Don’t forget to tell them that I’m switching ‘Knees and Toes’.”

Me: “Um, OK, I guess I can mention your Knees and Toes song…”

Savannah: “No, Mama, it’s ‘Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes, not just Knees and Toes!”

So there. I mentioned it. Happy, now? >;o)~ I told her she looks like a Black-Eyed Pea. She didn’t like that so much, as she reminded me that she doesn’t like Peas. πŸ™‚

  2. She’s such a doll! I really couldn’t see it in that first picture, she got a whopper there, ouch! My son face planted at a wedding last summer, scratched the whole front of his face. His teacher asked what happened and he said ‘Mommy wasn’t watching me’—it wasn’t my turn!!!

  6. OUCHIE! I am glad she is doing okay and tell her I thought her head shoulders knees and toes switch was VERY FUNNY!

  8. Thanks, Harriet! I am honored! Now to think of what to write… πŸ˜‰ Sounds like a fun New Years party, I’m happy to join in the festivities! πŸ˜€

  9. OUCHIE is right! LOL! And thank you for your acknowledgment on her song – I’ll pass it along to her, I know that will make her day! πŸ˜€

  10. Thank you Nicole! I’m relieved that her injury didn’t affect her sense of humor…or energy…or goofiness…LOL! And it’s nice to know she’s not the only one that seems to like putting stickers all over her face…heh, heh!! Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  11. I’m so glad it wasn’t anything major. It was pretty close to her eye. I probably would have freaked out. I like the blue eye shadow the best.

“Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes…” My daughter and I are going to sing that together now. LOL

  12. Face plants are NEVER fun. I never seemed to deal with it much with my son (who just turned 7) however my little Bella, who turned 3 in August is the obvious daredevil in the family. She is always taking ‘a dive’ somewhere.

    Anyway…GREAT blog!

  13. I think I freaked out most because of how close to the eye it was…she was very lucky, that’s for sure! The blue eyeshadow was too funny – I didn’t realize there was blue in the child makeup kit she got! LOL!!

Now ‘Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ keeps running through my head…over and over again! LOL!!

  14. Face plants are definitely no fun! That’s funny how it’s your daughter that’s the daredevil vs. your son! πŸ™‚ When I was pregnant, I was happy to hear I was having a girl, because of all the stories my hubby told me of when he was a boy…but it then again, I was a tomboy growing up, and my brother and I were the daredevil ones…and tried to get my sisters in trouble – though our ‘plans’ always seemed to backfire on us! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by, Lisa! πŸ™‚

  15. Poor little peanut is right! πŸ˜€ Glad you liked the sticker face! She thought she was oh-so-cool with those! LOL!! Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  16. Thanks so much, Kristin! Oh, and thanks for ‘clarifying’ the song title…little miss particular would have made sure to correct you! LOL!! πŸ˜‰

  17. She looks great! I am so glad she is doing well and none the worse for wear.

And she sounds hilarious! I love it!

  18. Glad she’s recovering well, although I never read the original face plant post. At least she didn’t need stitches or anything. My kids face plant on a regular basis but mostly end up with those ugly goose eggs on their foreheads. She’s adorable though. Tell her we found knees and toes hilarious. πŸ˜‰

  19. I love how even the mention of peas puts her in a tizzy about how much she dislikes them…heh, heh!! I’ve been avoiding posting new pictures of her, but I fear I must, because the purple color is really getting defined on the crease of her eyelid – she looks like she now has a TON of makeup on that eye…makes my eye hurt looking at it! LOL! Poor thing…she’s doing just fine, though, I even caught her jumping on the couch earlier…though she did say she was being ‘careful’…UGH!

  20. Thank you so much, Regina! She’s definitely OK, though her eye belies that… πŸ˜‰ Thanks for stopping by! πŸ˜€

  21. Thank you, Petra! She is definitely a constant source of entertainment for sure! πŸ˜‰

Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  22. Thank you so much, Mrs. Bear! It’s always nice to know my kid isn’t the only face-planter around…she gets her klutziness from me, unfortunately! LOL! I will definitely pass along to her that you found her knees and toes hilarious, she’ll be quite happy to hear that! πŸ˜€ Thanks so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  23. Yes, she’s doing great, thank goodness! She’s going to love that you suggested I make a video of her doing her song and post it, because she suggested that exact same thing! LOL!! I think I might have to do that…black eye and all! πŸ˜‰
